Revving up to support The Great Fruit Adventure

A 10,000-mile journey to educate children about fresh produce has received the backing of Coregeo® and Pink Lady®, the UK’s largest fresh produce brand.

Revving up to support The Great Fruit Adventure

The four-month challenge will see industry veterans Max MacGillivray (pictured below) and Gareth Jones motorbike their way from London’s Spitalfields Market to Cape Town in South Africa to raise awareness of how fruit and vegetables arrive on supermarket shelves. Their epic journey will take them to farms and orchards across Spain, Senegal, Ghana, Ethiopia, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania and South Africa and even to a Pink Lady® grower. There will also be a follow-up programme of school visits when they return to the UK in February 2017.

Michelle Toft, our Chief Marketing officer, said: “Research shows that six out of ten British children do not know where the fruit and vegetables they eat come from. We are delighted to be able to help Max and Gareth to raise awareness of the farm-to-plate story and to promote the importance of healthy eating to young people in the UK and further afield. There is an obvious synergy between Pink Lady® apples as the UK’s largest fresh produce brand and The Great Fruit Adventure and we wish the intrepid explorers well with their journey.”
